Second entrance examination

The Malex International Schools Entrance Examination is designed to assess prospective students and determine their readiness for admission into the appropriate class. The examination helps the school evaluate each student’s academic ability, communication skills, and general understanding before placement.

Subjects covered

Students will be assessed in three main subject areas:

  • English Studies
  • Mathematics
  • General Studies

Written assessment

The written examination evaluates each student’s understanding of the core subjects and helps the school assess general readiness for admission into the appropriate class.

What students should bring

Students should come to the examination venue with their own basic writing materials:

  • Pens
  • Pencils
  • Eraser
  • Ruler, where necessary

What the school will provide

The school will provide the question papers and answer scripts required for the examination.

Examination procedure

On the day of the examination, students will be directed to the examination hall and assigned their seats. They will be expected to enter the hall with only the necessary writing materials.

Once all candidates are properly seated, the examination instructions will be explained before the question papers and answer scripts are distributed.

The written examination will last for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Marking and assessment

All examination papers will be marked by qualified teachers who teach the respective subjects. Students will be evaluated on their overall performance in:

  • English Studies
  • Mathematics
  • General Studies

Cut-off mark

The school’s entrance examination cut-off mark is 50%. Candidates who obtain an overall score of 50% or above will be considered successful and eligible for enrolment into the appropriate new class.

Examination results

After the papers have been marked and the results compiled, the results will be published on the school notice board for parents and guardians to check. Parents or guardians of successful candidates will then be guided on the next steps required to complete admission and enrolment.

Important information for parents and students

Students are encouraged to arrive early, remain calm, and carefully follow all examination instructions. Parents and guardians should ensure that candidates come prepared with the required writing materials and are available to receive information about the results and subsequent admission process.
